David J. Mangefrida, Jr., joined Barrington Partners in 2022 with over 30 years’ experience in the investment management industry, focusing on the taxation of regulated investment companies (mutual funds), real estate investment trusts (REITs), securities partnerships, and other pooled investment vehicles.

From 2018 to mid-2022 he was a Managing Director in EY LLP’s Financial Services Organizaiton, which was his second stint with EY. From 2007 to late 2018 he was Director of Tax at Calamos Investments, responsible for both the investment and corporate tax functions. In his first tour with EY, he served as a Partner in the Financial Services Industry Group of EY’s National Tax Department, and as the firm’s Director of Asset Management Tax Services. He was instrumental in the development of FiTek LLC’s HedgeTek system and was the creator of EY’s PFIC Analyzer. Dave was previously the CEO of B Squared Trading Advisors and the assistant counsel-tax for the Investment Company Institute.

He has a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.

Dave is a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation, Committee on Regulated Investment Companies. He also is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the New York Bar Associations.
